Jets Sign Walker Duehr, Samuel Fagemo, Isaac Poulter To Two-Way Deals
The Jets announced they’ve signed forwards Walker Duehr, Samuel Fagemo, and goaltender Isaac Poulter to two-way contracts with league-minimum cap hits. They also confirmed previously reported two-way deals for defenseman Kale Clague and winger Phillip Di Giuseppe.
All five players receive $775K cap hits on one-year deals. Clague, Duehr, and Poulter received $475K AHL salaries, Di Giuseppe received a $450K AHL salary, and Fagemo received a $375K AHL salary, per PuckPedia.
The signings of Duehr and Fagemo help Winnipeg replace some of the fringe NHL forward depth they lost when RFA Rasmus Kupari signed overseas. The latter, while being the cheapest, is a high-upside pickup.
Fagemo, 25, was a Group VI UFA after spending all of 2024-25 in the minors with the Kings. He scored 29 goals in 67 games for the Ontario Reign to give him 132 in 268 AHL contests, the most in the league since he turned pro six years ago. For whatever reason, the 2019 second-round pick by L.A. just hasn’t managed to convert that elite minor-league offense into consistent NHL minutes. He only has 21 career games at the top level with Los Angeles and Nashville, posting three goals and an assist while averaging just 9:29 of ice time per game.
He may get an NHL job on a team that appears set to lose a pair of wingers in Nikolaj Ehlers and Mason Appleton to free agency as well, although neither has signed a new deal as of yet. The forwards they’ve added thus far in free agency include Cole Koepke, Tanner Pearson, and Jonathan Toews.
Duehr, 27, split last season between the Flames and Sharks after being claimed off waivers. The South Dakota native has topped out as a fine fourth-line piece, totaling 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points with a -14 rating in 92 games for Calgary and San Jose over the past three seasons. He’ll look to compete for a depth spot on Winnipeg’s NHL roster after spending more time than he’d like to in the AHL last year, scoring 28 points in 36 minor-league games with the Flames’ and Sharks’ affiliates.
Poulter will presumably be the third-string goalie on Winnipeg’s depth chart behind Connor Hellebuyck and Eric Comrie, replacing Chris Driedger, who signed in Russia. The netminder turns 24 in September and spent his first three professional seasons in the Devils organization, ultimately going non-tendered on Monday to become a UFA. He made 36 appearances for AHL Utica last season, recording a 2.86 GAA, .898 SV%, one shutout, and a 16-13-7 record.

Kings Sign Samuel Fagemo To One-Year Extension
4:50 p.m.: It’s a two-way deal for Fagemo, per PuckPedia. It carries an AHL salary of $375K with a $425K guarantee.
3:07 p.m.: The Kings have signed winger Samuel Fagemo to a one-year extension worth $775K, per a team release.
Fagemo, 24, was a second-round pick of Los Angeles in 2019 but is already on his second stint with the team. After failing to land a spot on their opening night roster last fall, he was waived and subsequently claimed by the Predators.
His stint in Nashville was nothing to write home about, recording one goal in four games while playing fourth-line minutes. He was waived again by the Preds in November, upon which he was picked up again by the Kings. Since L.A. was the only team to submit a claim, he was assigned directly to the AHL’s Ontario Reign.
Fagemo only saw brief call-up action the rest of the way with the Kings, but he was one of the best players in the AHL this season with the Reign. The Swedish sniper lit the lamp 43 times in just 50 games, finishing with 62 points and a +10 rating. He finished tied for 10th in the league in points outright, and his 1.24 points per game were the most among skaters with at least 20 appearances. However, he didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet in four games with Los Angeles after being re-acquired.
However, after his showing with the Reign, the risk of losing him on waivers again in October is sky-high. With Viktor Arvidsson and Trevor Lewis heading for free agency next month and Pierre-Luc Dubois out of the picture after being traded to the Capitals, there’s more than enough opportunity for Fagemo to snag a spot out of camp, potentially on a scoring-oriented third line.
Fagemo would have had arbitration rights had he reached restricted free agency next week. He’ll have them again upon his extension’s expiry.
Kings Assign Three Players To AHL
With Los Angeles being off until February 10th, they’ve opted to make a trio of roster moves. The team announced (Twitter link) that they’ve assigned forwards Alex Turcotte and Samuel Fagemo plus defenseman Brandt Clarke to AHL Ontario.
Turcotte was recalled last weekend and got into his first two games of the season with the Kings. The second was certainly a successful one as the 22-year-old notched his first career NHL goal while picking up an assist in Wednesday’s victory over Nashville. Turcotte has spent most of the year in the minors with the Reign, recording 23 points in 28 games so far.
Fagemo, meanwhile, has been shuffled back and forth recently, shifting between Los Angeles and Ontario three times over the past couple of weeks. Playing time during that stretch was fairly limited as he made just four appearances, equaling the number he had with Nashville at the beginning of the season before they put him on waivers in November. The 23-year-old has been quite productive with Ontario though, recording 20 goals and 13 assists in just 24 contests.
As for Clarke, he got off to a hot start with the Reign to start the season, collecting 32 points in 30 games, quite the mark for a rookie blueliner. That earned him a recall four weeks ago and since then, he has been in and out of the lineup with the Kings. Clarke has just one assist in six games so far while logging 16:15 per night, primarily on the third pairing with some time on the second power play unit.
With these moves, Los Angeles is now at the minimum-sized roster. With Viktor Arvidsson still a little while away from returning (meaning he’ll remain on LTIR), the Kings will likely use that space to recall three players for their next appearance. The determination on whether it’s these three or others will come next week.
Pacific Notes: Arvidsson, Fagemo, Duclair, Karlsson, Lyubushkin
The Kings have been without a key winger all season as Viktor Arvidsson works his way back from a back injury sustained during training camp. It appears they’ll be without the 30-year-old for a while yet as Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times notes that while Arvidsson has started skating on his own, he’s still two or three weeks away from rejoining the team for practice; it would obviously be longer than that before he’d be good to return. Arvidsson, who had one of his best years last season with 26 goals and 59 points, is currently on LTIR, giving Los Angeles ample room to carry a full-sized roster. They’ll have to get cap-compliant when the time comes to activate him which could come not long before the March 8th trade deadline.
Elsewhere in the Pacific Division:
- Still with Los Angeles, they have returned winger Samuel Fagemo to AHL Ontario, per the AHL’s transactions log. The 23-year-old has been up and down a couple of times now this week, getting into one game with the Kings during that time. Since being claimed back off waivers in November, Fagemo has been quite productive with the Reign, notching 20 goals in just 24 games.
- Pending unrestricted free agent winger Anthony Duclair has not yet had any discussions about a contract extension with the Sharks, reports Curtis Pashelka of The Mercury News. The 28-year-old has eight goals and eight assists in 41 games so far but has also been scratched as of late. Duclair, who represents himself, said that he expects to sit down at some point with GM Mike Grier to discuss a new deal. He’s currently making $3MM and with a 31-goal season under his belt on this contract back in 2021-22, he’s likely going to be looking for at least a small raise on that contract.
- After being recalled late Friday, Canucks forward Linus Karlsson has been returned to AHL Abbotsford, per a team announcement (Twitter link). The 24-year-old has played in four games with Vancouver over his four recalls and is still looking for his first NHL point. Karlsson has been productive in the minors though, collecting 25 points in 27 games so far.
- The Ducks announced (Twitter link) that defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin was scratched for their game tonight against the Rangers due to an upper-body injury. The 29-year-old has been a regular on Anaheim’s third pairing all season long, logging over 17 minutes a night in 45 games. While the pending UFA only has four assists, he also has contributed 117 blocked shots and 71 hits and is likely to attract some interest from playoff-bound squads looking to toughen up the back end of their defense corps in the coming weeks.
Kings Recall Samuel Fagemo
With center Blake Lizotte listed as doubtful for tonight’s game against Dallas, the Kings opted to make a roster move to add some extra forward depth. The team announced that they’ve recalled winger Samuel Fagemo from AHL Ontario, filling their one vacant roster spot.
It has been an interesting start to the season for the 23-year-old. A late cut in training camp, Fagemo was claimed off waivers by Nashville and spent nearly six weeks on their roster. However, playing time was hard to come by as he played in just four games, scoring once. That landed him back on waivers in November where Fagemo was scooped up once more by Los Angeles. As no other team put in a claim at that time, they were able to send him down to the Reign.
Since then, Fagemo has been a high-end scorer, notching 20 goals in just 24 games, ranking second in the AHL in that department despite the fact he missed the first 11 games of their season. It’s the third straight year that he has reached the 20-goal mark although he needed 46 games to get there last season. Now, he’s being rewarded for his efforts with a recall where he’ll look to have more success than his first couple of stints with the Kings which saw him collect two goals and an assist in 13 games over two seasons.
As for Lizotte, he left last night’s game against Carolina early with a lower-body injury and did not return. The 26-year-old has struggled a bit offensively this year compared to 2022-23 when he had a career-high 11 goals and 23 assists in 81 games. This season, he checks in at five goals and four helpers in 34 contests with his playing time dipping to just above 11 minutes a night, the lowest ATOI mark of his career.
Kings Claim Samuel Fagemo Off Waivers From Nashville
Samuel Fagemo is once again a member of the Kings. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports (Twitter link) that Los Angeles has claimed the winger off waivers from Nashville. Back in training camp, the Predators had claimed him off waivers from the Kings.
The 23-year-old was a second-round pick of Los Angeles back in 2019 (50th overall) and is waiver-eligible for the first time this season. Fagemo has shown a scoring touch in the minors, notching 27 goals with AHL Ontario in his first year in North America in 2021-22 and followed that up with a 23-goal effort last season. Despite that, he didn’t see much action with the Kings, seeing just 13 games over those two campaigns.
With Los Angeles not having much in the way of cap and waiver flexibility, Fagemo was waived back in training camp where Nashville scooped him up. However, he didn’t get much of an opportunity with them either, playing in just four games, scoring once while averaging just under ten minutes per game. That was still enough for the Preds to decide that his roster spot would be better used elsewhere.
Because the Kings were the only team to claim Fagemo, they were allowed to send him down to Ontario, a move they have now announced (Twitter link). Jordan Spence, who was papered down yesterday, has been recalled in a corresponding move.
Predators Place Samuel Fagemo On Waivers
The Nashville Predators placed winger Samuel Fagemo on waivers Friday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic and TSN reports.
If another team places a claim for Fagemo, it will end a very short stint for the Swedish winger in Music City. Nashville claimed Fagemo off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings just before the 2023-24 season started.
Fagemo, 23, has appeared in four out of 13 games for the Preds this season, serving as a healthy scratch for the other seven. He recorded a goal, four shots, and a season-high 12:30 of ice time in his Predators debut, which came October 21 against the San Jose Sharks, but he hasn’t gotten back on the scoresheet since.
Head coach Andrew Brunette has scratched Fagemo in three straight contests. His last appearance was November 2 against the Seattle Kraken, in which he registered two shots on goal in 8:44 of ice time.
The 50th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft carries significant goal-scoring upside. He’d notched north of 20 goals in his last two seasons in the minors, including 23 in just 56 games last season with the AHL’s Ontario Reign.
He’s received minimal chances to show he can translate that ability to NHL ice thus far, though. Fagemo only appeared in 13 NHL games with the Kings before they waived him, meaning he’s made 17 NHL appearances over three seasons. He’s lit the lamp three times but averaged under ten minutes per game.
His limited usage in Nashville is curious, especially given the lack of offensive production coming from their bottom six. Yakov Trenin, who’s appeared in all 13 contests and is averaging north of 15 minutes per game, has yet to record a point. Veteran center Colton Sissons has been one of their few sources of offense coming from their third and fourth lines, registering five goals and adding one assist in 13 games.
If Fagemo clears waivers, the Predators can assign him to the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals tomorrow. However, if the Kings opt to put in a claim and are the only team to do so, they may send him directly to their affiliate in Ontario.
Nashville Predators Claim Samuel Fagemo Off Waivers From Los Angeles
The Nashville Predators have claimed winger Samuel Fagemo off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports Monday. All other players placed on waivers yesterday, aside from new Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jansen Harkins, cleared.
While he may only have 13 NHL games to his name, this is a bit of a tough loss for the Kings. The team’s 50th overall pick in 2019, Fagemo has yet to crack the NHL full-time but looked good in a nine-game call-up last season, recording two goals and an assist despite receiving a paltry 7:51 per game. He tore things up in the minors in the goal-scoring department for a second straight season, too, posting 23 goals in 56 games with the AHL’s Ontario Reign to finish second on the team in goals.
The Kings have a lot of forward prospects, but it’s a pool that’s quickly evaporating as players like Quinton Byfield and Arthur Kaliyev are now full-time NHLers. Los Angeles had signed Fagemo to a one-year, two-way contract paying him $775K in the NHL and $100K in the AHL in July after his entry-level contract expired.
Fagemo, 23, now battles for a bottom-six spot with the Predators just over a week before the start of the regular season. His addition to the roster puts a fire under veterans like Kiefer Sherwood and Cole Smith to hang onto their fourth-line roles, while a youngster like Philip Tomasino also needs to step things up as he hasn’t quite secured a top-nine role throughout camp thus far. Given Tomasino still does not require waivers for assignment to the AHL, he could very well start the season with AHL Milwaukee after the Fagemo claim despite recording 18 points in 31 NHL contests last season.
