Waivers: 10/07/22

October 7, 2022 at 1:04 pm CDT | by Gavin Lee 13 Comments

It’s an important day for waivers as the regular season approaches, and several potential targets are available. With the preseason wrapping up, teams will try to sneak players through at the last second and keep them in the organization for the time being.

Many of these placements are due to salary cap restrictions or LTIR machinations to give teams maximum flexibility as the season begins. Everyone from yesterday’s list cleared.

Here is today’s group of waiver additions:

Carolina Hurricanes

Jordan Martinook

Dallas Stars

Anton Khudobin

Edmonton Oilers

Mattias Janmark
Dmitri Samorukov

Minnesota Wild

Steven Fogarty

New Jersey Devils

Andreas Johnsson
Brian Pinho

Philadelphia Flyers

Kevin Connauton
Troy Grosenick

St. Louis Blues

Martin Frk
Klim Kostin
Matthew Highmore

Vancouver Canucks

Justin Dowling

Winnipeg Jets

Johnathan Kovacevic

Mattias Janmark? Did I miss something? I didn’t see any of his pre-season. Did he fall off a cliff at 29 years old?

Well, Janmark was touted as such a great signing by Edm!
I couldn’t see why then, I guess I was right.

For the last few years I’ve seen Janmark as a valuable player. He’s a solid bottom six forward at all three positions who can fake it as a middle six guy for a couple days to cover an injury. He is a good enough penalty killer to make any teams PK2 better. He doesn’t rack up points, but he’s the kind of player teams need in the bottom six. Unless he is all of a sudden a step slower this year I don’t get this move.

A lot of surprises on this list. I don’t see how Kostin doesn’t get claimed.

Hope not; he was great for us in Springfield last year.

You answered my question. Is Kostin waiver-eligible. I’d be extremely surprised if he makes it to S’field. Buffalo could use someone like him …

And what about Andreas Johnsson… 0,5 p/g last season. But guess his 3+M caphit will leave him unclaimed…

    Holloway over Janmark I’m guessing.

Claim Kostin and send Archibald to WBS.

Edmonton cap problems. Really would like to move Puljujari. teams want Edmonton pay part of salary or give sweetener. If he was put on waivers though team with cap room might take a chance.

Kostin , Martinook or Janmark. All improvement over Archibald.
