NHL, NHLPA Update League COVID-19 Protocol

January 31, 2022 at 7:25 pm CDT | by Josh Erickson 16 Comments

The NHLPA and NHL announced today in a joint press release that they’re issuing a set of modifications to the league’s COVID-19 protocol, which will come into effect for each team immediately following their last game before the league’s All-Star break in the schedule.

The five-point list of major edits to the league’s protocol is as follows:

  • The NHL/NHLPA recommend that players receive a booster vaccine as soon as they become available to them. However, at this time, no booster vaccine is required by the league for a player to participate in game action.
  • The league is removing enhanced safety measures put in place in December as the surge of Omicron cases in the United States begins to decrease. They are reverting back to the protocols that were in place at the start of the season, with only a few small changes.
  • One of those changes is the mask requirements for players. Cloth masks will no longer be permitted as appropriate face coverings; only N95 or KN95 masks will be accepted.
  • Fully vaccinated individuals will no longer be required to undergo daily testing.
  • The testing requirement for close contacts has been lifted.

It’s important to keep in mind that this is still a baseline requirement that teams and players are required to follow to fulfill league responsibilities. Local and federal regulations will always hold precedent over the NHL’s protocol.

With the testing requirement being lifted for fully vaccinated individuals, expect the number of players entering COVID protocol on a daily basis to continue to dwindle. Nearly every NHL player is fully vaccinated, and it’s likely that only symptomatic individuals will now enter protocol and be unavailable to teams.

But what does “fully vaccinated” mean? Only those who receive a booster shot (that is ineffective against omicron) are exempt from testing, even though “fully vaccinated people still catch and spread the virus?

This league has become a parody of itself.

Fully vaccinated means two shots of Pfizer/Moderna or one shot of J&J.

“Individuals will be considered fully vaccinated once two (2) weeks have passed since receiving the final dose of an FDA, Health Canada or WHO approved COVID-19 vaccine

It is strongly recommended that individuals remain up-to-date with vaccine recommendations and receive a “booster” dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine when eligible. However, at the time of this writing, boosters are not required to be considered “Fully Vaccinated” for purposes of this Protocol.”

Wasnt that hard to find if you actually wanted to know. It is literally in this article and took me 30 seconds.

People who are boosted are essentially at no risk of dying from Omicron. Virtually none.

2,500 unvaccinated people are still dying each and every day.

Like that state trooper from WA who became a hero to dullards for not getting vaccinated. Dead.

He (and the other 2,499 people a day) died because he believed lies like the ones you keep repeating.

But I agree that the NHL should stop trying to save these people from themselves. Darwin Time.

People who are healthy are at essentially no risk from dying from whatever variant the TV tells us is circulating. Go research how many co-morbities the people who died FROM (not with) covid had. While you’re at it, go research how many people died FROM covid, not with covid. You will be shocked at the level of lying the media has done to you.

These are athletes that are in prime physical condition. Requiring anyone to inject themselves with an unknown substance is ludicrous.

And can anyone can tell me what side effects all of these boosters and shots will have on your body in years to come? Probably not since THERE WERE NO LONG TERM STUDIES. But VAERS exists. Again research it…you’re mind will be blown and it should open up your eyes.

Not trying to say any of this in a condescending manner…but do your own research. Don’t just listen to people that are paid hefty sums to read a teleprompter. Why are Pfizer, Moderna, J&J, White House, CDC and WHO employees exempt from Covid19 mandates? But athletes in their prime must inject.

      Exactly HighNTight,

Do your own research. Google “curing Covid with urine therapy”.

      Cheers.

Question…doctors and hospitals already get rich, medical care costs a fortune, etc. So…

Do they OR the nobody grifters and bloggers (up to and including those who used to push “Aliens caused 9/11”, do your own research) have more financial incentive to lie?

The already wealthy doctors or the “Aliens caused 9/11” bloggers? Who to trust?

I referenced the WA state trooper who died. They showed the clip of him appearing on a prime time cable “news” show. The host very clearly had a green screen background. So, while she is very safely sitting at home, fully vaccinated, instead of in the studio to avoid Covid risk, she cheered this man to his death, based on lies and misinformation.

If you want to ignore all of that to deem their info credible, so be it. Like I said, Darwin Time.

@itmeheyhi – What article are you referring to, because what you just quoted isn’t in the PHR article or the linked to article either. Maybe link to your source next time.

Josh is typical of those on the left who only know what they read from their partisan sources and are completely ignorant of any other flow of information. As an example, an editor for the NYT died just a day after receiving his booster shot. In fact, as the previous poster mentioned, this has happened to many people according to the VAERS database, which as history has shown, only accounts for at most 10% of all adverse vaccine injuries.

As the director of the CDC herself admitted, 75% of covid deaths were with people who had 4 or more comorbidities. Yet here you are, still pushing out misleading numbers like you are here.

And one more thing: If the safety and research of these vaccines were so beyond questioning, why are they trying to keep the data away from public scrutiny (Pfizer wants 50 years before their research can be looked at!)? And why do they demand immunity from law suits if it is so safe and effective?

First off, Google-ing anything is counterproductive.

Wouldn’t know a prime time news show if it cross-checked me in the sternum. It’s half truths and outright lies. Why anyone still watches that misinformation is beyond me.

I am simply stating what the CDC has said and reported. They flip and flop and come back and admit to the criticism of them 6 months ago is right today…all without admitting to or apologizing for anything.

If an agency like the CDC can own patents on vaccines, should they really be the ones responsible for helping mandate vaccines? Seems a little shady to me.

And are you saying that because big pharma is already rich, they don’t want more money? Who’s the gullible alien blogger now?

I’ll give anyone that wants to drink their urine the 6 ft social distancing they want. I prefer rest, proper diet, exercise and some vitamins thrown in. There is always a quick gimmick cure out there. Although if big pharma could make a buck on people drinking urine, you can bet that those Gatorade bottles on NHL benches would be full of it.

And for those curious what the covid numbers look like in the four most vaccinated countries, well, it’s not good news for the Branch Covidians.

FYI to anyone who hasn’t drank the urine Kool Aid, Alex Berenson has been identified as the number one source of Covid misinformation.

      Cheers.

The only people labling Alex Berenson as misinformation are Branch Covidians. The data charts listed on his site are government statistics, it’s irrelevant who posted them. Attacking the messenger and avoiding the data doesn’t help your cause.

@itmeheyhi – Yes, the link to a 29 page PDF is linked to in the article that PHF linked to. We don’t always have time to read thru something like that at midnight.

Absolute joke. The jab doesn’t work & it’s been proven. Now they want N-95 masks… what’s next Bettman? Will players have to wear the mask while on the ice???
