Drafting Vanacker over Gridin is another rotten feather in Kyle Davidson’s cap.
Carolina has some serious depth at forward.
Othmann to Hartford so they can keep Sheary around. Rangers keep their streak of not developing 1st rounders alive.
Othmann looked really good in the AHL, has looked terrible in camp. Perreault, Berard and Laba have badly outplayed him. If Sheary makes the team he’s going to spend a lot of time in the press box, they don’t want that for Othmann he needs to play.
Othmann is probably washed. Mid-first-rounder should be in the show by now (2021 mid-round 14-21 was pretty weak apart from Bolduc). His warts started to show his overage season when he didn’t perform well after getting traded to the Petes. Bummer cuz he was our top prospect for a bit until Perrault got drafted. He has put up decent numbers in the A, but hurt his chances in camp with some questionable hits and not much production despite being given a long look. Doesn’t have much trade value at this point.

So are some of the teams like the Wings / Panthers just going to have one massive cut right before the season? Seems like there are a few with way too many bodies for this late in the process.
