Los Angeles To Host The 2025 NHL Entry Draft

October 9, 2024 at 8:30 pm CDT | by Josh Cybulski 9 Comments

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period is reporting that the 2025 NHL Entry Draft will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. The draft will be the first of its kind in the NHL as the league is moving to a decentralized model that will see the team’s management groups and scouting staff at a separate location while the prospects and their families will be in attendance in Los Angeles.

The details have yet to be finalized but reports are that Gary Bettman is working on wrapping up the arrangements at the 7,100-seat Peacock Theater. The theater is close to Crypto.com, the home of the Los Angeles Kings who will be hosting the event. Bettman will be in Los Angeles in the next handful of days to finalize details alongside much of the NHL’s executives.

While the details of the NHL Entry Draft are starting to emerge, there is very little information at this time about where the NHL Awards will be held and Pagnotta even wonders if the show will take place in 2025.

The NHL has been taking their events to bigger markets in recent years and will be hosting the draft in Los Angeles for the first time in 15 years. The last NHL Entry Draft the Kings hosted was at the Staples Center (now Crypto.com arena) in 2010.

Guys I have been to every single draft from 2010 to 2016. In order

    Los Angeles
    Minnesota
    Pittsburgh
    New Jersey
    Philadelphia
    Florida
    Buffalo

La was the second best. Worst by far was new jerseys The best without a doubt was Minneapolis and Pittsburgh the nhl takes great pride and cares. Day two is super boring and day one takes way to long but if your really into it the draft is an amazing experience. Now without all the teams there it will take some of the drama away when they say we have a trade to announce. It is also fun to see GM s talking to each other in the floor and speculating

I LOVE the draft. OR so I thought…until I went to the one in Pittsburgh.

I left after pick #10. So unfathomably boring in person.

    Also, Pouliot over Forsberg…ugh.

Hey at least you didn’t draft Forsburg only to trade for Martin Erat!

Pitt had the best food in the media room. The draft can get boring. When you watch on TV you get the commentary and analysis from button and McKenzie and then you see what team needs and play stories and all that stuff when you’re in the arena you don’t get all of that so I can make the drive very tedious and very boring. I personally live for the draft. I study the draft. I do my own mock draftsand I’ve covered the draft six different times for the same media outlet so I have a different perspective than most people
