Dominique Ducharme Tests Positive For COVID-19

June 18, 2021 at 4:38 pm CDT | by Gavin Lee 13 Comments

The league has made the official announcement concerning Montreal Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme, who has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in isolation. The press release indicates that all tests done on players have returned negative, meaning there will not be any other unforeseen absences in tonight’s game.

The full statement:

This morning, we became aware that a test administered yesterday in Las Vegas on Montreal Canadiens Head Coach Dominique Ducharme indicated a presumptive positive result for the COVID-19 virus that was confirmed on further testing today. Coach Ducharme has been partially vaccinated with his second shot administered less than two weeks ago, on June 9. Per NHL COVID Protocols, Coach Ducharme was immediately isolated from the team. All tests administered to the Players, other coaches and hockey staff from both yesterday and today have returned uniformly negative results. The Canadiens organization has, and will continue to follow, all guidelines aimed at protecting the health and safety of its Players, staff and community at large as set by the NHL, the Canadian Federal Government, the Quebec Provincial Government, and national and provincial health agencies.

While it is obviously a good thing that the Canadiens will have their full complement of players, losing their coach at this important juncture is not ideal. Ducharme will now miss the rest of the series, which is scheduled to go through June 26 if taken to seven games.

This is Ducharme’s first time as an NHL head coach in the playoffs, after taking over from Claude Julien earlier in the year. The team will turn to Luke Richardson to run the bench tonight, assisted by Alexandre Burrows and Sean Burke, according to GM Marc Bergevin. He also indicated that Ducharme is feeling well and will still be involved in preparing the game plan.

At least Trump knew that this virus came from a lab in Wuhan while Lord Fauci and his minions were blaming it on a Pangolin from a wet market.

“Coach Ducharme has been partially vaccinated with his second shot administered less than two weeks ago”.

So what the hell is fully vaccinated if two injections is only a partial vaccination?! Three? Four? Whenever the corona bros say so?

The absurdity of this charade should be evident to just about anyone by now.

Oh, we’re talking tough now, are we? (Clown).

So at, say, 11 days and 23 hours after dose #2, one is still open to the ravages of the ‘rona but we’re still going to allow for cross border travel because…….science!

      Makes perfect sense.

Don’t bother. He could’ve given you what he thought was factual information without the douche. But because you see something seems a little off about everything going on, you’re a douche. This is the “tolerant” left. They instantly scream conspiracy and call names because you must not believe “science”, of which, if we’re honest, most people on this site(myself included) don’t actually know a whole lot about any of the science that is going on. But dearest though go against them? Follow blindly good sir or be berated!!!

So, @Gbear and @backhandinbaptist, may I join in the parade? You guys almost certainly have better wheels than me, but I’ll do my best to keep up! Have you seen the newest article on NHL.com regarding Ducharme’s situation? It almost seems like the league is trying to move the goalposts here and let him come back early. It’s by Sean Farrell and Mike Zeisberger and has some conflicting info. He tests positive on June 18, and must isolate for 14 days, which would end on July 2nd. But, later on in the article, this sentence appears – “But the fact that the whole team has been vaccinated twice and it will be two weeks in (on?) June 23, so there are a lot of things to consider in hoping that I’ll be back as soon as possible.” It seems like they are saying since June 23rd will be the two week mark since Ducharme’s second vaccination, if he gets retested then and shows a negative result, they might let him back on the bench. At least, that’s how I’m reading it. The problem with this mess is that there hasn’t really been enough time to get data on the effectiveness of two vaccinations, coupled with the emergence of new variants, means we’re almost guessing that the methodology will be sound. More adjustments will be in our futures, with more vaccinations, in all likelihood. Happy Father’s Day, indeed!
