Are you kidding me sakic?! So the plan is to deal Barrie, who is and has been a big part of this teams lifesblood and let a few unproven youngsters fill the void?
    Bad move.

Too much talent at a typically hard to fill position to pass on him. Barrie has been on borrowed time for awhile.

I was surprised at the lack of trades as well. Thought LA would trade up to the Avs for Byram.

It’s not about his age it’s about his presence, surprised he was able to stick around this many years of being rumored to be moved. Especially when he cost them a franchise legend like St. Patty.

Polish Hammer is right, M34. Paper Mache Barrie should’ve been booted years ago. He can’t defend a dead guy and thinks he’s the fourth forward every shift. Defensive frikkin’ liability and puts up mostly empty points. He deserves to be traded to Ottawa or Buffalo, since Robidas Island isn’t an option yet.

Most boring draft I’ve ever seen in any sport.

Not a single trade involving an NHL player.

Man I really wanted Byram to slip to the Kings but Turcotte slipping over Dach was a pleasant suprise.

I agree with forwhomjoshbelltolls, that is first draft I remember when there was no trades of active players on Arizona moving up , from Philadelphia for a prospect. Is that weird or what? I also don’t see alot of picks today play in any games of any teams maybe 5 or 6 as I see it by looking at picks that will see any ice time this year, think there was 12 last year.

    Jablonski and hammer:
Dead wrong. You must be in a different region where you don’t get to watch avalanche games.
Barrie is by no means a lock-down dman, but he holds his own. And he is a top flite scorer from the right handed dman position. Look at any advanced metric you want to. The guy is a staple to this team.
I bet one of you is a press fan, and actually watched the playoffs a year ago, that would make sense, because Barrie had a bad run in that series.

correction and note to Matt Galvin , NHLN will be airing rounds 2-7 at 12 PM noon, and here in Tennessee am on Central Standard Time. NOT on NBCSN , atleast NHLN has a lot more class in their production, and get to look at Jackie Redmond cutest NHL anchor on TV.

Stan Bowman of the Blackhawks should be fired today for passing on Bryam and taking Dach he easily could have traded down and get more picks if that’s who he wanted. What a joke of a organization they have become

There’s just a slight difference in the amount of interest between the two leagues. People tune in for Lord Stanley or an outdoor game in one league while people would PPV to watch Stanley the 3rd string QB run some drills in the other league.

Kings draft is going well drafted 3 1st round talents with high upside. Was kinda bummed that the nhl screwed the kings so we missed on the two generational talents but 3 solid top 6 contributors is nice. I dont anticipate us being good for awhile so hopefully there is another prospect down the line with hughes upside.

2nd worst record and end up with 5th overall pick. I think that they are implying that maybe the NHL put their thumb on the scale for some of their preferred teams/markets (i.e., Rangers & Blackhawks) to help them defy the odds of getting prime picks.
