Adam Raška Signs With HC Sparta Praha

August 19, 2025 at 5:46 pm CDT | by Brennan McClain Leave a Comment

After six years playing in North America, forward Adam Raška is returning to his native Czechia. According to a team announcement, the Extraliga’s HC Sparta Praha has signed Raška for the 2025-26 season.

Today’s signing marks the conclusion of Raška’s unimpressive professional career in North America. He was drafted 201st overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks. During his draft season, he had a quietly successful campaign with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Océanic, scoring 13 goals and 21 points in 35 games.

Aside from a brief loan to HC Oceláři Třinec in 2020-21, Raška spent another year with the Océanic, scoring 12 goals and 25 points in 22 games, including another three goals and six points in eight postseason contests. Still, that’s the last time he’s registered much offensive success in his career.

Raška transitioned to the professional ranks a year later, scoring five goals and 14 points in 49 games for the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda. Still, it didn’t take long for the Sharks to realize what they had in Raška, as they allowed him the opportunity to debut in the NHL that same year.

He quickly became a hard-nosed forward who was willing to play aggressively, with nearly zero offensive potential. There’s definitely a place for that at the NHL level, but Raška took too many penalties and never turned into a true shutdown forward. Two years ago, the Sharks traded Raška to the Minnesota Wild along with a 2026 fifth-round selection for defenseman Calen Addison.

Similar to his time in the Bay Area, Raška spent much of his time with the Wild’s AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild, with limited NHL action. He played primarily for Iowa last season, scoring five goals and 14 points in 56 games with 83 PIMs. He’s planning on staying true to his roots in his transition back to Czechia, saying, “My biggest advantage is being such a jerk on the ice. Making the opponent’s game uncomfortable and making room for our guys to play better.“

Wild Re-Sign Adam Raska

July 8, 2024 at 7:55 pm CDT | by Brian La Rose Leave a Comment

Minnesota has taken care of one of its restricted free agents as PuckPedia reports (Twitter link) that they’ve re-signed winger Adam Raska to a one-year, two-way contract.  The deal will pay $775K in the NHL and $95K in the minors, meaning he took less than his qualifying offer to secure a $15K boost in guaranteed money.

The 22-year-old was a seventh-round pick by San Jose back in 2020, going 201st overall.  Raska started last season in the Sharks’ system but was traded early in the year to the Wild as part of the return for defenseman Calen Addison.  Raska spent most of the season in the minors, playing in 56 AHL contests where he had seven points and 98 penalty minutes.

He has also seen NHL action in each of his first three professional campaigns, including five games with the Wild last season where he had a dozen hits despite averaging less than seven minutes a night.  Over his three years, Raska has 13 total appearances at the top level but is still looking for his first NHL point.

Raska will be waiver-eligible for the first time next season so Minnesota will have to get him through waivers successfully to return him to AHL Iowa.  Assuming that happens, he’ll play in a depth role for them but could get a look with the big club if they’re looking for some grit on the fourth line.

Wild Notes: Lettieri, Brodin, Chisholm, Raška

February 7, 2024 at 2:39 pm CDT | by Gabriel Foley Leave a Comment

The Minnesota Wild have activated forward Vinni Lettieri from injured reserve. Lettieri has been out since December 30th with a lower-body injury, missing the team’s last 14 games. He’s appeared in 19 games when healthy this year, scoring three goals and four points. He has also scored eight points in 10 AHL games.

Lettieri will return to the lineup looking to top 20 games in a season for only the third time in his career. The 29-year-old has played in 102 career NHL games over the last six seasons, though much of them have come in a relief role. The 2021-22 season marked the most that Lettieri has played in one season, as he appeared in 31 games and scored 10 points with the Anaheim Ducks. His only other season of more than 20 games came in the 2018-19 season – Lettieri’s rookie year – which saw the centerman net three points across 27 games.

Lettieri has also totaled 237 points across 277 career AHL games.

Other Minnesota Wild notes:

  • The Wild will be without both Jonas Brodin and Declan Chisholm for their Wednesday night matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks, per team reporter Sarah McLellan. McLellan shares that both players haven’t skated much, as Brodin is facing illness and Chisholm was traveling internationally after the team claimed him off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets last week. Both will look to enter the lineup when Minnesota hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.
  • Minnesota has sent forward Adam Raška to the minor leagues. Raška has spent a month with the NHL roster, slotting into five games but failing to change his stat line. The 22-year-old winger has also played in 20 AHL games this season, recording one goal, 61 penalty minutes, and a -5. Raška has appeared in 13 NHL games over the last three seasons, though he’s still searching for his first point. That search will be delayed a bit longer as the former seventh-round pick rejoins the Iowa Wild.

Central Notes: Scandella, Wild Injuries, Savoie, Kaiser

January 27, 2024 at 5:11 pm CDT | by Brian La Rose Leave a Comment

The Blues are one of the teams that are still in the mix for a Wild Card spot but even if they fall out of the race, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic wonders (subscription link) if it could be a quiet deadline as a seller.  Their most prominent rentals up front are the struggling Kasperi Kapanen and Jakub Vrana, who is currently playing in the minors; neither would likely have much of a market.  However, Rutherford suggests that blueliner Marco Scandella could be the likeliest player to garner attention around the league if he isn’t signed to an extension first.  The 33-year-old has had a very limited role this season but can still kill penalties and is the type of depth player that playoff teams will often look to add for injury insurance purposes.  That said, at $3.275MM, St. Louis would certainly have to pay half of that to facilitate any sort of move while an extension, if one was to be reached, should check in closer to the $1MM mark.

Elsewhere in the Central Division:

  • Wild winger Vinni Lettieri is listed as questionable for tonight’s game against Anaheim, relays John Shipley of the Pioneer Press. The 28-year-old has been out since late December with a lower-body injury after seeing some consistent minutes as he had played in 19 games on recall.  Meanwhile, Shipley adds that winger Adam Raska skated before practice Friday.  He was injured last weekend; head coach John Hynes suggested the injury isn’t a significant one and is more soreness-based.  The 22-year-old was acquired in November from San Jose and has played in five games since being recalled earlier this month.
  • The Blackhawks activated prospect Samuel Savoie off season-opening IR and assigned him to QMJHL Rouyn-Noranda, CapFriendly reports (Twitter link). The 19-year-old recorded just shy of a point per game with the Huskies last season, notching 59 in 60 appearances, helping him earn his entry-level contract in July.  However, he was injured in a preseason game and underwent femur surgery, keeping him unavailable to play until now.  This should be Savoie’s final junior season as he’ll be AHL-eligible in the fall.
  • Still with the Blackhawks, blueliner Wyatt Kaiser has been placed in concussion protocol, per an announcement from AHL Rockford (Twitter link). The 21-year-old has split the season between Chicago and the IceHogs but any potential recall is out of the question for the time being now.  Kaiser has played in 23 games with the Blackhawks, picking up four assists while logging nearly 17 minutes a night.  With Rockford, his numbers have been similar, notching a goal and two helpers in 15 contests.
