The day saw some rumored names such as Tyler Toffoli, Jason Zucker, and Matt Dumba all find new homes, while star player Tomas Hertl was moved to a divisional rival in a surprising blockbuster. Trade Details: St. Louis Blues send G Malcolm Subban to Columbus Blue Jackets for future considerations.
Hurricanes Acquire Evgeny Kuznetsov

A rare trade deadline where the buyers got the better end of most of these deals.
How do you think the Preds did? I don’t follow the team much myself (and I was also seemingly one of the only people in Seattle who actually likes Jeremy Lauzon (still do!)). Seems like they made some shrewd moves; nothing too flashy but seemingly solid, beneficial adds. Can’t imagine they have enough to get the cup this year but it looks like they pieced together something commendable. Might be scrappy enough to get in and take down a big dog?
I like the moves overall. Wish they could’ve signed Trenin though. But I’m still perplexed at why they want to be a wildcard team again when they stated they were tired of doing that?
I think Trotz is to competitive to go thru a rebuild, thus why I thought they should’ve gone in a different direction when Poile stepped down.
I think the Flyers as sellers did very well for themselves.

If you take time off work for the trade deadline… Then you have no right to call others degenerates. Also Carolina won the East, not the Rangers. Vegas is far beyond Colorado (in the moves they made) as well.

Vegas didn’t invent that strategy and the only people that complain about it are the fans.
“The fans” AKA the consumers of the product they are selling.
This is a great point.
Yet revenues are not suffering because of this. Every team can use the exact same methods Vegas is using. Plenty of other teams have used it as well.
The counterpoint to this is that a team has to have a high priced player get injured and go on LTIR to take advantage of that cap space, so while every team can hypothetically take advantage of the system as currently constructed, in reality they can’t if their roster stays healthy.
That’s what the CBA needs to fix.
i didn’t say they did, It started with the team i root for, Blackhawks 2015 Kane $6M over, 2021 Tampon Bay $18M over, 2023 Vegas $8M over, and if Vegas completes the back to back circumvention cups $17M over, as a Hawks fan i disagreed with the advantage of the loophole because its abused for what LTIR is meant for and not meant to be used as playoff advantage

Tampa’s GM JBB made a mistake with the Jeannot trade last year but I like his deadline moves this year. The Duke and Dumba additions are excellent value. Hope it pays off down the stretch and leads to a deep run. GO BOLTS!
Hertl wasn’t a blockbuster trade. people seem to use the word blockbuster on every single trade involving a decent player.
