Matthew Tkachuk To Have Hearing With Department Of Player Safety

November 6, 2022 at 12:00 pm CDT | by Ethan Hetu 14 Comments

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk will have a hearing today in response to an incident that took place in last night’s contest against the Los Angeles Kings.

During the dying moments of the game, Tkachuk high-sticked Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, lifting his blade to the point where it was inside Quick’s mask. Kings defenseman Matt Roy called it a “dirty play,” per The Athletic’s Eric Stephens, and implored the league to “look at” the play, communicating a desire to see Tkachuk face disciplinary action.

Now, it looks like disciplinary action will be coming. Tkachuk has so far fit the Panthers like a glove, scoring 17 points in his first 12 games in Sunrise. With a likely suspension on the way, Tkachuk will face his first major speed bump in his tenure as a Panther.

Panthers got screwed out of 2 points last night, Quick is a flopper and got away with it.

Obviously you didn’t see it on replay or watch the game. It was another blatant dirty play by one of the dirtiest players in the league.

Well this is certainly an…. interesting take. The play itself had no bearing whatsoever on the outcome of the game, there was no penalty called, and the Panthers lost because Bobrovsky gave up a bad goal. Not sure how they were ‘screwed’ out of two points.

As far as the play itself, it’s obvious you didn’t actually see it. Pretty clearly intentional, by a player with a history of doing stuff like that. You obviously don’t know anything about Quick either, who’s about the farthest thing from a flopper in the NHL. Look up some old clips of him and Cory Perry going at it for proof.

Do your research before you give your take. You definitely did not see what he did after the whistle and Quick is not a flopper.

I did watch the game, Panthers had a goal disallowed when Quick was ‘interfered’ with OUTSIDE of the crease, then LA scores on the PP from the coach’s challenge. Total garbage.

So Quick’s skates still being in the blue paint is somehow considered outside of the crease. Then the panthers challenge the play, the call is confirmed by the league and the panthers get accessed a penalty. Somehow that’s total garbage.

Maurice’s challenge was total garbage and why the Kings got the PPG… deal with it.

It’s not the fault of Quick for the non goal. He didn’t call it.
Turning the toe of you stick inward to go inside the “cat eye”, should be 20 games. There is a deliberate attempt to injure.
    Of course it won’t be.
