Another question is does Trouba want to stay in Winnipeg? If he doesn’t have an increased role, he may want to continue his career elsewhere. If made available, there would be several teams interested in him.

TROUBA was mediocre on PK, aproblem for WPG as they finished 25th in NHL with only 77.3% “kill rate”
TROUBA was ON-ICE for 27 PPGs in 220:02 PK time= 1 PPG surrendered per 8.15 PK minutes
BYFUGLIEN ON-ICE for 16 PPGs in 162:45 PK time= 1 PPG surrendered per 10.15 PK minutes
To be fair TROUBA was better than STUART, MYERS and ENSTROM but still that 8.15 is only about average for NHL defensemen.
A bridge contract is definitely warranted

Trouba would still be an improvement for teams like Boston, Colorado & Buffalo. Those team all have major questions on the blue line & Trouba would be a big asset on any of the three. That’s why Winnipeg should consider trading him if they don’t get anywhere in contract negotiations. There would probably be other teams interested as well. If Winnipeg got several teams in the trade talks, they would get a pretty solid return for Trouba. It is something they may have to consider at some point
