How do the Panthers lose the Vanek trade? IMO the Panthers, Senators, Leafs, Habs and Bolts won the division deadline and Detroit lost.

I would have to agree. Florida didn’t give up much at all for Vanek.

Yeah. The Panthers do need power play help. The reason they got that Scarlett guy from NJ was to provide an option for next year when they do lose Pysyk or Petrovic. The Panthers were thinking of offering Petrovic a long term deal to scare Vegas away. When was the last time having a fire sale made you a winner of the deadline besides when you are trying to tank for the #1 draft spot in a weak draft. Colorado has that locked up.

If you actually read what is said there is, they ARE a better team with Vanek. BUT they needed more than one guy. Detroit is a winner for moving players that weren’t likely going to be wearing red and white next yr. I think the winners and losers are fairly correct.

I posted my first comment before they edited in an explaination. Aside from Buffalo and Ottawa, I think everyone in the division was a winner

How did Detroit lose? They turned a bunch of expiring contracts into second and third round picks. Could they have gotten more for Vanek? Probably, but I wouldn’t say they lost either.

Disagree with Ottawa losing.

Burrows-dahlen is not like the forsberg trade.
