I can see Kevin Shatt still staying with the blues till the end of the season and not getting traded. 6.5/7 a mill for him sounds about right.

Would love to see Shattenkirk/McDonagh top pair, but the Rangers don’t have the cap space to compete for him. If I’m Gorton, I’d be looking for any way to get out from Girardi and Nash’s contracts. Girardi won’t fetch anything significant, probably a late round pick or a depth player, but anything will be fine if they can get out from his contract. If Nash can get back to showing he’s still a scoring threat, I can see teams taking a chance considering his solid two-way play. Rangers might have to eat a small portion of his contract, but I think it would be worth it.

With all the talk about Shattenkirk to the Bruins, I think Alzner fits their needs better on the blue line. The Bruins defense has been better than expected thus far, but they still need a shut down d-man. Alzner fits that mold and he would allow the Bruins to finally reduce Chara’s minutes.
