Why would you place a team in Seattle over some where in the east? Having 17 teams in the west would make zero sense. I suppose you could always move a team like Nashville to the East.
Doc Halladay
Theirs currently 16 teams in the East and 14 in west, soon to be 15 once Vegas enters next year. Expansion to Seattle makes perfect sense to balance the league out while Quebec will be the host of the next relocated franchise.

Let me just say… I grew up in Montreal, cheer for the Habs and have lived in Seattle for over a decade. This city rocks for hockey and, as a community, is in desperate need of an NHL franchise to give the needed boost to amateur hockey and the ancillary creation of neighborhood arenas. For those who might not be aware, Seattle is 2 hours from Vancouver and would be a natural rivalry to Western Canadian teams as well as those CA teams.
