During the 2nd intermission of the Canada-Russia game, Elliotte Freidman mentioned that Trouba wants to play on his natural right side as well as in a teams top 4.
I was a believer that Trouba would truly breakout last season but he actually regressed compared to his first two seasons. He’s only 22 and has played just 3 seasons while not yet establishing himself as a true top 4 defender. I’m not quite sure how he believes he’s earned the right to not only demand a trade but dictate where he should be playing.

Trouba wants to play top 4 minutes on his natural right side. The Jets have him playing on the left side. That is probably part of the reason he hasn’t progressed as much as expected. Sometimes a young defenseman struggles when not playing his natural side. It isn’t unprecedented for a young player to force his way out of a team. Dougie Hamilton did it last year in Boston. He refused to sign a new contract & the Bruins ended up moving him to Calgary for draft picks. Trouba obviously has issues with Paul Maurice. I understand the Jets position. Even if they do end up trading him, they have to make it seem like they have no interest in trading him. That keeps the return high and keeps them in the driver’s seat. I do think the Jets will end up moving Trouba and I think they’ll get a nice package in return because there will likely be several teams bidding against each other. Boston, Buffalo, Colorado, Ottawa, Edmonton & New Jersey all would likely have interest. Teams like Detroit & LA would probably be interested as well if they could create enough cap space to acquire Trouba. If there are that many teams interested, the Jets are going to get a good return.

Rangers need a RH shot, trade Staal and Mclrath for him.
Austin 2
Nyquist + Smith + 2017 1st round + any prospect not named Mantha or Hicketts. Michigan native, young, right handed. I hope the stupid Hall trade makes Cheveldeyov think he should get a Hall type player
